Ah, Craigslist. You help me make some moolah. You amuse me. And at times, deliver a lesson. Today’s lesson came with this heading:
Avoid this guy!!
The ad was a lengthy rant. I read it just in case I cross paths with the scofflaw who evidently, did some shoddy mechanic work on his classic car and didn’t make amends because of it.
The nerve of this mechanic! This poor guy. I would be pissed too.
Then I read the third paragraph:
“He had my car for just about three years…”
Whaaaaaaaa? If this were a commercial, you’d hear the sound of the vinyl record scratching to a halt.
Three years. This guy went back and forth to a mechanic he was unhappy with for THREE FREAKIN’ YEARS.
“Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me,” says the adage. I’m not into shaming but that little axiom does make a point. Or how about this one, “You can’t keep a bird from flying over your head but you can keep it from making a nest in your hair.”
It’s easy to play the passive role of victim. To complain and post a rant on your favorite public forum. You’ll find the company of fellow ranters. But it does nothing to resolve the issue.
Three years, people. This knucklehead kept going back for THREE years. He has one person to blame and it ain’t the mechanic.
